Abandoned Railroads

Evidence of Coast Range railroad based logging from the late 1800’s to 1930’s could still be easily found in the 1970’s. Growing up in the town of Dallas Oregon I can clearly remember old but still standing railroad structures and trestles in the rugged mountains west of town. Due to time, logging, and other factors, it is now much harder to find any evidence. This section includes a few pictures I took during the 2010 hunting season, including logging equipment artifacts, barely visible railroad ties, and a collapsed railroad trestle. All of these pictures were taken west of the old logging town of Black Rock.
