Day Hikes  2014 - Wauna Point  [24]

2014 - Wauna Point

Look in any of the older Columbia Gorge hiking books and you will find the Wauna Point hike. However, with the permanent closure of Tanner Creek Road, the 5.5 mile hike was extended to 10+ miles, with a total elevation gain of over 3000 feet. Because of the extended distance, and the fact that it does not include one of the typical Columbia Gorge waterfalls, the latest hiking books tend to ignore it. The good news is that because of this you may just have this hike all to yourself. When we hiked this on an early 2014 spring Saturday we encountered no one. So if you want solitude and a somewhat challenging hike this is the one for you.
